Hello! My name is Dakota and I'm a Digital Marketer and Web Designer of padoo.org for Padoo Homes. I figured that for my first blog post, it would only be normal to let you know who I am and my experiences to help you better understand my interests and opinions going forth into future posts as just leaping straight into posts about local monuments and tourism without some sort of a face might make it feel very impersonal and corporate; and that's not the vibes we want to give off.
I was born and raised in Massachusetts, USA for the first sixteen years of my life before moving to New Mexico, USA for four more. In those twenty years I traveled all over the US with my family, hitting all four corners of the country as well as seeing landmarks such as The Grand Canyon, The Statue of Liberty (on multiple occasions), Alcatraz Prison, The Lincoln Memorial, and a good few others. This however meant that by the age of 20, I felt I had seen almost everything I'd wanted to see in the United States and so thanks to my mother having been born and raised in the United Kingdom before coming over the ocean looking for a different life, I was able to use my dual-citizenship to mirror her young adventure and try my hand not only experiencing tourism in the UK, but rather experiencing living here entirely. I initially moved in with my aunt and uncle just north of London where I stayed for just short of a year renting a room and working as a cleaner for the local high street and seeing what London had to offer such as the London Bridge (See photo), but eventually I knew I needed to move on again and experience more. I explored multiple possibilities for where I would go to live before I found Hull. With it's bustling city center, event venues, and affordable cost of living I knew this was where I wanted to be. I was able to find an extremely affordable house of multiple occupancy (HMO) with three other wonderful women who over the last few months have become my good friends I've been able to see some of the wonderful places Hull has to offer and I hope to keep you all updated with some of the cool places I'm able to go in the future and you can too if you decide to take a trip into the city and stay in one of our lovely lodgings or rent one of our homes altogether.
I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me, and I hope I can see you around town soon!
