Upcoming Netflix Series Filming in Hull

Starting June 20th pubs and some other businesses on Hull’s historic High Street will be temporarily inaccessible or closing due to the filming of the upcoming Netflix period drama ”Bodies“. The Sailmaker’s Arms and Ye Olde Black Boy have already announced they will be closed on the dates of filming.

The series will be based off of Si Spencer’s 2015 graphic novel of the same name. Netflix has posted the following blurb for the show’s plot:

Four different detectives are trying to solve the murder in different time periods: 1890s overachiever Edmond Hillinghead, dashing 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman, kickass female 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan and Maplewood, an amnesiac from post-apocalyptic 2050, who brings a haunting perspective. Together, the four set out to uncover a conspiracy spanning 150 years.

The series will be using Hull’s High Street in the role of an earlier decade of London, whether it’s the 1890s or 1940s is unclear. A cast has not been announced, however Marco Kreuzpaintner (“Beat”, “Soulmates”) has been called to direct.

This is far from the first thing to be shot in Hull. Enola Holmes 2 starring Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown’s trailer features shots of the city and is slated for release on Netflix this year.

We hope to see Hull’s relationship with Netflix and the film industry continue to develop and hope you’ll join us!
