UK Firms Hiring Refugees

Major British firms and businesses join forces and offer support to Ukrainian refugees who are fleeing the country. Not just providing humanitarian help but also by offering them jobs.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many citizens were forced to flee the country with no support, money or plan. However, many countries around the globe have been welcoming them with open arms and offering the support they need. Including United Kingdom. Currently, over 45 major British firms are prioritising hiring Ukrainian refugees.

Some of the big brands involved are Lush, ASOS, M&S and many others. When the invasion started, the government has not responded to the crisis in a timely and appropriate manner. However, throughout the past week - the government had applied some major changes and is looking for more ways to support Ukraine and its citizens every single day.

Emma Sinclair, a British entrepreneur and the chief executive of Enterprise Alumni has taken initiative and began coordinating the organisation regarding jobs for the Ukrainian citizens. The scheme is still in its early stages of development but the response the government had from all the major firms has been incredible.

Tesco is also one of the companies that is participating in this scheme and it currently has over 1,400 jobs available for Ukrainian refugees. The jobs are being advertised online, internally and mainly over social media. Especially platforms like twitter.
