Train Strikes Effect Transportation Across England

June 21st, 23rd, and 25th many railways will be closed altogether with the potential for extreme delays and even potential further cancellations occurring on the days between. The National Rail has advised everyone to only travel if absolutely necessary to limit train congestion. Major train ticket retailer Trainline has promised that they will be in touch with anyone who's train is effected as soon as they know and if your pre-booked trip is rescheduled or cancelled, you can get a fee-free refund or rescheduling that works for you.

This is all due to a strike being held by The National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers in response to a 4 billion pound budget slashing towards the National Rail and London Underground by the Tory party resulting in paycuts, layoffs, pensions, and more.. Discussions had been underway for some time however the RMT was unsatisfied with the government's proposals and decided to go forward with the strikes in order to show the seriousness of the situation. Mick Lynch, the general secretary of the union has attacked transport secretary Grant Shapps for not allowing Network Rail to withdraw their letter threatening to make 2900 RMT members redundant however Shapps has responded that he has nothing to do with the issuing of the letter nor the request to withdraw it.

Fortunately if you need to travel, the UK has vast transportation systems even outside of the trains. While slower, busses do run across the country even going as far as from London to Hull.

We hope to see you in Hull soon. Travel safe!
