Freedom Fest

From Friday, August 26th to Sunday, September the Freedom Festival is coming to our city again! The Freedom Festival is an artistic celebration in Hull featuring “epic spectaculars unfolding in the city centre to intimate moments where audiences and artists meet, we present thought-provoking, playful, and powerful performances in public spaces that address the world we live in.”

The festival started in 2007 on the 200th anniversary of William Wilberforce’s Slave Trade Act of 1807 which abolished slave trade in the British Empire and has featured many notable acts such concerts by The 1975, Foals, and Florence + The Machine.

While no details have been released about the specifics of this year’s event, previous years have seen all sorts of sculptures, light and sound shows, and performances of all sorts of varieties from concerts to skits to the dramatic. There have also been public events to enjoy with the family and food drives.

This will be the first Freedom Festival to physically take place since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s sure to be a great one. We hope you’ll book a stay with us and see you there!
